I recently had the privilege of meeting the owner and CEO of Mr. Rekey and doing some portraits for some new editorial’s coming out about his business. Jonathan Garza Photography also did some internal work for them doing photos of some of their workers and their full uniforms, showing how to be properly dressed for the job. The owner and workers were very nice and easy to photograph. I will be working with their team more in the future this is what my contact their said about the photos “I was VERY happy with the results and I really appreciate your time with this project” Cris. Heres a few examples of the commercial portraits/headshots and some of the environmental portraits I did for their team.
You’ve decided to host a post-engagement party and want to show off your kitchen skills in a tasteful way. Here we have some easy to make and low-cost treats to satisfy not only your creative cooking skills, but also your hungry guests. Bon appetite!
Fresh Basil Bruschetta
Prep time: 10 minutes
Serves: 4-6 people
4 Roma tomatoes
4 Fresh Basil leaves
2 Garlic cloves
1 cup of shredded mozzarella or parmesan cheese
Salt and pepper (to taste)
1 baguette loaf
1 tablespoon of olive oil
Directions: Preheat oven to 350˚F. Slice baguette bread into quarter inch slices, place evenly spaced on cooking sheet, and place shredded cheese on bread. When oven temperature is ready put bread into oven for 5-7 minutes or until cheese is melted. While bread is baking, dice the tomatoes, basil, and garlic cloves and place into a mixing boil. Add olive oil, salt and pepper (to taste), and toss ingredients together. Place bruschetta in one of your nicer bowls (or china) with serving spoon and baguette bread on an elegant serving platter. Pre-serve a few pieces for presentation. Enjoy!
Prep time: ~35-40 minutes
Serves: 3-5 people
2 cups of jasmine rice
3 cups water
¼ cup rice vinegar
2 tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt
1 package of dried seaweed wraps
Directions: Clean rice before cooking by putting it a large bowl and rinsing with water until water is clear. You may need to drain water with a colander a few times. It definitely helps if you have a rice cooker, if so place rice in rice cooker with 3 cups of water and set it to cook. If you’re cooking with a stove top, place rice and water in a large pot, bring to a bowl then lower heat, placing lid over pot. Cook for 12-15 minutes and steam for 20-25 minutes.
As rice is steaming, in a separate pot on low heat add salt, rice vinegar, and sugar and stir until sugar is dissolved. Let stand and cool. Also chop cucumber and avocados in long cuts. When rice is cooled, carefully empty rice into a separate bowl (glass or wooden) and pour vinegar mixture on the rice and mix. BE CAREFUL not to smash the rice into mush.
Spread rice on one seaweed wrap, leaving one fourth of wrap empty- this will be the last end rolled. Place cucumber and avocado in the middle of spread and roll towards the empty side of the wrap. When you have the entire sushi rolled use a small amount of water to seal the roll. Repeat until ingredients are completely used. Slice into 1 ½ inch pieces. *To spice it up you can sprinkle crushed red peppers over sushi or serve with wasabi and soy sauce.
Three Cheese and Fruit Platter (and Wine!)
Prep time: 7 minutes
Serves: 4-5 people
3 oz of Trugole cheese- semi-soft Italian white-yellow cheese
3 oz Sharp cheddar cheese- moderately hard and slightly yellow
3 oz Brie cheese – soft white cheese
1 bunch of red grapes (and/or green)
Wheat Thins, Triscuits, and Saltines
Directions: Cut fruit and cheeses into bite size pieces. Serve on a nice platter with your favorite selection of wine. It’s best to mix your combinations of fruit and cheese with the crackers and sip the wine to get great tangs. It’ll be a delectable experiment tasting which grouping of fruit and cheese suit you best.

I recently was blessed to get to take an editorial portrait for 12 loaves magazine. At the Austin ARCH the center for the homeless. The Austin Portrait was focusing on Elena Davis a former model. Here is the right up from Real Issues magazine Here is the I am Waters Website
“HOUSTON — A former model is using the images of local veterans to help fight poverty and homelessness.
Elena Davis’ face has graced the cover and pages of some of the world’s top fashion magazines but now she’s behind the lens and the woman behind I Am Waters.
The Houston-based organization delivers bottled water to homeless people across America.
She was in Houston Thursday taking photos of veterans who are currently staying at the Midtown Terrace. The Midtown Terrace is run by the U.S. Vets Houston.
“How do you justify having someone who has fought for our country to be homeless?” Davis said. “There are a lot of preconceived notions as to who the homeless are, so we photograph the homeless and we use those images on our website, on our community outreach.”
It’s a passion for the former model. Davis said she grew up nearly homeless herself.
“I think it’s interesting because I don’t look like where I came from, and so I think people are always kind of surprised,” she said.
And that’s the point. Davis said the homeless aren’t who you think they are.
And through I Am Waters she hopes to educate and hydrate people.”
